Create your first report
Before you start
You need access to a data source and permission to create reports. Ask an administrator for access if no source is available. Use a desktop or laptop. Your source may contain existing data or events collected through Platform.
1. Choose a question
Start with something specific, such as: “How are visits distributed across device types?” You need a visits metric and a device dimension. Their names may vary by source.
2. Open a report and select a source
Open Explorer and choose Create new Report. Select the Data Source you want to analyze. Check the source before building the analysis.
3. Build a table
Use the Add analysis plus icon to add an Analysis Table. Choose a metric and a dimension from the available fields and drag them into the corresponding areas of the table. The metric is the measurement. The dimension breaks it into rows.
Choose a date range that contains data. Start without extra filters so that you can check whether the metric, dimension and date range answer your question.
4. Save the report
Give the report a meaningful title. When the naming dialog appears, confirm with Save Report. Return to Explorer and check that you can find the saved report.
